| dc.description.abstract | There is plenty of evidence from neutral hydrogen observations for a violent interstellar medium, dominated by hot-plasma filled superbubbles. However, there are few direct observations of their thermal X-ray emission from galaxies other than our own. We discuss pointed ROSAT observations of the dwarf irregular (dIrr) galaxies IC 2574 and Holmberg II which provide some tantalizing results. However, for definitive answers we will have to await Chandra and XMM. | en |
