In the chapter Helen Payne, a researcher and practitioner in DMP from the UK, describes The BodyMind Approach designed specifically from DMT for patients with medically unexplained symptoms (MUS), and provides patient profiles and treatment examples. Medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) are a global issue, consisting of persistent medical conditions for which doctors find no organic explanations, for example, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, etc.; under these conditions patients usually visit their doctor quite frequently, yet no effective pathway for support is available. Payne describes what the DMP-based BodyMind Approach™ can do to facilitate patients to self-manage and reduce their suffering from MUS.en
