dc.description.abstract | The future of Contemporary Chinese art within a global context as seen by a practicing artist / professor of Fine Art from London UK. Can Chinese art continue with subject matter which is in generally seemingly focused on its immediate past or can break free and present a wider picture of its place in the world? This prestigious event took place in the Yellow Mountain region of Huangshan province, China. The invitation and organisation was by the Department of information, Art China. The seminar was attended by Chinese government officials and politicians with artists from UK, Europe and mainland China. Chaired by the Professor for Philosophy at Peking University. The theme of the seminar where St James presented a paper was the future of Chinese art abroad. This international seminar is also linked to the artists-residency occurring over the same period. An exhibition in China in September 2014 at Nanjing University will also take place. | en |
