dc.description.abstractCherry Kearton filmed a number of newsreels about the First World War, but only 4 survive in the BFI National Film and Television Archive. Based on extensive research, this article offers the first analysis of his surviving war-time newreels magazines and contextualises them in relation to the war,newsreel practices at the time, Kearton's career and the absence of the his other work.en
