Contextual variables appear to strongly impact the results of software engineering research. But little attention has been directed at better understanding this apparent impact. This report reviews the small body of research that has investigated industrial--context. The report is something of a work in progress and, therefore, lacks some coherence. Therefore, a summary of insights is provided at the beginning of the report, with an appendix containing the remainder of the work.en
