Pharmacists play a pivotal role in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programmes, patient education, and optimising antibiotic use. This presentation highlights the escalating global health challenge of AMR, emphasising the role of pharmacists as leaders in AMS initiatives. Key areas discussed include promoting awareness, educating patients, supporting responsible prescribing, and advocating for One Health approaches. Practical strategies such as pharmacist-led AMS interventions, the "CARES" framework, and technology-driven solutions for surveillance and patient engagement are explored. Case studies illustrate the successful implementation of AMS practices in various healthcare settings. By advancing sustainable AMS efforts and fostering global collaboration, pharmacists contribute significantly to mitigating AMR and ensuring the efficacy of antimicrobials for future generations.en
