This article presents the development of a large clinical simulation centre within a British university. This centre is used by students and professionals from all healthcare disciplines where they take part in highfidelity simulation sessions. The University of Hertfordshire capitalised on its reputation of being innovative and “business facing” to establish the centre. This new simulation centre was developed thanks to the support from industry partners and the top management of the University. Initially housed in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences since 1998, the centre is now independent from the academic schools but is part of the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences. The centre has a range of simulated clinical and pre-hospital rooms and is equipped with computer controlled patient simulators.en
