Abstract
The series of Longman Study Texts are written in a way that explores a wide range of classical as well as modern writers, covering all literary genres. They are catered to both exam and coursework needs at GCSE level, and even A-level study, aiming to avoid short-cut methods towards passing exams such as plot summaries or character attributes. Holderness and Wardle’s text of "Julius Caesar" provides editorial introductions with extra annotations and questions which provide a window for students to study the characters, the themes and situations, within the text. An academic essay by a writer with links to the theatre adds a unique perspective.
