The UK and CHINA are considering High Level Waste (HLW) and Spent Fuel (SF) geological disposal using an engineered barrier system (EBS) covering wasteform, canisters and backfill/buffer materials. With both countries committed to using innovative nuclear waste management and disposal methods, China and the UK have the unique opportunity to collaborate on addressing common issues including development of engineered barrier systems (EBS) in geological repositories.
