Symptomless infection of Rhynchosporium secalis on leaves of winter barley.

pp. 557-560.
Areas of leaf blotch lesions were assessed visually on green leaves sampled from a barley crop in March and April. When these leaves were examined further, firstly on a light table and then microscopically after clearing and staining, infected areas without classical leaf blotch symptoms but with sporulating Rhynchosporium secalis were observed. Sporulating infections were also observed on symptomless areas of senescent flag leaves sampled in July.
