Hybrid Energies and Mutant Forms : the confessions of a pedagogical misfit

        Author
        Phillips, Ivan
        Attention
        2299/16156
        Abstract
Offering a reflective narrative on the transformative effects of finding yourself ‘teaching in the wrong subject area’, this paper shows how sustained exploration of the shadowy realms between subject disciplines can bring about an unsettlement of pedagogical approaches that is as rewarding as it is disturbing. Telling an essentially gothic tale of textual hauntings, half-glimpsed monstrosities, erotic encounters and failed experiments, it aims to provoke reflection and discussion by appealing to the frustrated and misunderstood mutant hybrid at the heart of every teacher in higher education.
