Abstract
PBiological control of nematodes includes several options to reduce numbers of plant-parasitic nematodes in fields and planting materials. As cultural methods of crop protection have profound effects on microbial abundance, diversity and activity in soil, it is appropriate that approaches to nematode management are considered together. This chapter discusses two methods of nematode control: (i) biological that involves the use of predators, nematophagous fungi, endophytic fungi and bacteria; and (ii) cultural that includes crop rotation, application of soil amendments and green manures, and physical soil treatments.
